AWS Step Functions
Developer Guide

In this section you will learn how to use paths and reference paths for input and output processing.

Note

For an overview, see Input and Output Processing in Step Functions in the How Step Functions Works section.

In Amazon States Language, a path is a string beginning with $ that you can use to identify components within JSON text. Paths follow Leather amp; Suede Legging Karl Lagerfeld Free Shipping Extremely Cheap Sale Exclusive Exclusive Online Sale Clearance Store ZrrG2hk
syntax.

A reference path is a path whose syntax is limited in such a way that it can identify only a single node in a JSON structure:

You can access object fields using only dot () and square bracket () notation.

The operators aren't supported.

Functions such as aren't supported.

For example, state input data contains the following values:

In this case, the following reference paths would return:

Certain states use paths and reference paths to control the flow of a state machine or configure a states's settings or options.

To specify how to use part of the state's input and what to send as output to the next state, you can use InputPath , OutputPath , and ResultPath :

For and , you must use a that follows the syntax.

For , you must use a .

The InputPath field selects a portion of the state's input to pass to the state's task for processing. If you omit the field, it gets the $ value, representing the entire input. If you use null , the input is discarded (not sent to the state's task) and the task receives JSON text representing an empty object {} .

Note

A path can yield a selection of values. Consider the following example:

If you apply the path , the following is the result:

Usually, if a state executes a task, the task results are sent along as the state's output (which becomes the input for the next task).

If a state doesn't execute a task, the state's own input is sent, unmodified, as its output. However, when you specify a path in the value of a state's ResultPath and OutputPath fields, different scenarios become possible.

The ResultPath takes the results of executing the state's task and places them in the input. Next, the OutputPath selects a portion of the input to send as the state's output. The ResultPath might add the results of executing the state's task to the input, overwrite an existing part, or overwrite the entire input:

If the matches an item in the state's input, only that input item is overwritten with the results of executing the state's task. The entire modified input becomes available to the state's output.

» Alerts » New Relic Alerts » Configuring Alert Policies

When an alert policy's condition violates a Critical (red) threshold , New Relic Alerts can create an incident record with detailed information to help you respond efficiently. An incident is a collection of one or more violations. It includes all of the open and close timestamps for each violation, as well as chart snapshots of the data being evaluated around the time of each violation. The incident record will include any Warning (yellow) violations associated with the Critical (red) threshold violation.

Admins, Owner or Add-on Managers : To select when New Relic Alerts creates incidents and how violations are grouped, use the setting inside your policy. Then, to view the alert policy violations (incident records), select the indexes.

Incident rollup options

Each option for incident rollup has its own advantages. You can select any option for any alert policy.

By default, New Relic Alerts creates a single incident record for each alert policy.

The selected alert policy's page shows how New Relic Alerts rolls up incidents for alert notifications and UI details. (Default is ). To choose a different option for this policy, select .

To change the incident preference for the selected alert policy:

Repeat these steps for each alert policy as needed.

When you select the default ( ) as your incident preference, New Relic Alerts will group all condition violations into the same incident.

By default, New Relic Alerts creates a single incident for the selected policy. If additional conditions are violated by any target after the incident opens, the violations are added to the same incident. Only one incident appears on your Incidents indexes for the selected policy.

Selecting the By policy preference is the most general option. New Relic Alerts will accumulate all condition violations for every target into a single incident record.

When you select as your incident preference, New Relic Alerts will group all violations by any target for a specific condition into separate incidents.

Selecting the By condition option is useful, for example, when you want an individual incident record to focus on a specific condition. If the policy has multiple conditions, separate incident records for each condition will appear on your Incidents indexes.

When you select as your incident preference, New Relic Alerts will not group violations at all. A new incident will be created for every violation that occurs in your policy.

Selecting the By condition and entity option is the most granular level for creating incident records. This is useful, for example, when you closely want to monitor anything that is occurring anywhere across your infrastructure. An incident will appear on your Incidents indexes for every violation that occurs within your policy.

* If a student has submitted an application on three separate occasions, the Office of Admission generally will not review subsequent applications. In these instances, if an application fee was submitted, it will be returned.
